Design Awards Finalists
ISS members have voted and we are delighted to present the finalists of the 26th Annual ISS Design Awards. We thank all who participate in bringing these astonishing feats of design and engineering to the global marketplace and to those who take the time and deliberation to present their vessels, to vote for them and the judges who now have the awesome responsibility to carefully weigh the merits of each. The winners will be announced at the 26th Annual Gala for Design & Leadership on
2 November 2016 at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.

ISS Yacht Advisors Seminar-Fort Lauderdale Boat Show Sunday-6th November 2016
ISS has teamed up with prominent yacht managers and advisors to launch another exciting initiative for the 2016 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. The ISS Yacht Advisors Seminar, which is open to captains, crew and industry representatives, will take place on Sunday 6th November at the Embassy Suites Fort Lauderdale from 9:00 - 11:00 am, and will feature presentations on key regulatory issues facing the yacht industry in 2017.
Association Alliance Member Feature-The International SeaKeepers Society
International SeaKeepers Society promotes oceanographic research, conservation, and education through direct involvement with the yachting community. Today the primary focus of SeaKeepers’ efforts is the DISCOVERY Yachts Program. DISCOVERY Yachts are privately owned vessels which facilitate programming by providing access to the ocean for research, scientific discovery, community outreach and artistic inspiration.

Erin Ackor is a partner at the maritime and aviation law firm, Moore & Co, P.A., located in Miami, Florida, where she has been serving clients for more than 12 years, since Moore & Co. opened its doors in 2004. Erin is the current ISS Treasurer and has been a board member since 2014. Erin also serves on the Admiralty Law Committee of the Florida Bar, as well as being a member of the Maritime Law Association and the Florida Yacht Brokers Association.

Elevating the ISS Gala through Global Support
Attracting new owners and enthusiasts to superyachting is an industry-wide initiative with far-reaching and growing support. ISS is deeply involved in the success of this mandate. Our annual gala honouring yacht design and leadership-celebrating its 26th Anniversary on 2 November 2016-is already a cornerstone event in outreach efforts to showcase our most amazing works of art, the superyachts.
ISS has developed a close cooperation with the Superyacht Builders Association (SYBAss) while opportunities to partner are available to every stakeholder who recognizes the need to elevate our industry to attract new enthusiasts.

Association Alliance Member Feature -- Superyacht Builders Association (SYBAss)
SYBAss unites and represents builders of large motor and sailing yachts. The member shipyards have built at least three custom or semi-custom yachts over 40 metres in length in the past decade. Monaco is the seat of the association and where the annual General Assembly is held, during which the elected board explains current policies and asks members for input. The secretariat is based in the Netherlands from where all of the association’s activities are supported. SYBAss’ focus is on three fields: promotion, regulation and professionalism.

ISS Recognizes Significance of PYC with New Design Award
The International Superyacht Society recognizes the significant benefit of the Passenger Yacht Code (PYC) related to carriage of up to thirty-six passengers while in charter and also for those in private use under the Red Ensign Group. ISS also recognizes the extraordinary achievement of designers and builders in complying with challenging PYC restrictions while also creating incredible lifestyle designs using exotic materials and unique construction techniques.
ISS Holds Meeting to Elevate Gala
In June, ISS held a collaborative meeting called a "Concept Workgroup" to discuss elevating ISS's annual gala for design and leadership, this year marking its 26th anniversary. By the end of the meeting on 9 June, a shared vision was clearly realized. Look to future ISS galas to heighten the celebration of achievement while reaching out to those not yet fully realizing the allure of yachting in all its dimensions.

The aim of the Yachting Services Trade Section (YSTS) is that of identifying and raising the challenges faced by the various facets of the industry with the relative authorities with a view to finding workable solutions reports Dr Alison Vassallo, chairperson. Board Member Profile-Bill Tripp-Tripp Design NA
Bill Tripp started Tripp Design Naval Architecture in 1984, designing racing boats reflecting a childhood spent on the water sailing and racing in boats his father, William Tripp, Jr., designed. 30+ years later, Tripp Design Naval Architecture specializes in the design and engineering of state-of-the-art yachts ranging in size from 43 feet to 80+ meters with offices in Connecticut and Amsterdam. In 2016 he joined the ISS Board of Directors and currently co-chairs its Designers & Architects Committee with Tim Hamilton of Feadship.
Spotlight on Sponsorship Cayman Registry
Registry-a division of Cayman Maritime- is the premium yacht registry in the world, as can be seen by the huge number of large yachts around the world that are flying the Cayman Islands Red Ensign. The registry was first established in 1903 when George Town was formally recognised as a British Port of Registry. The registry obtained British Registry Category 1 Status on 25 July 1991, and can register vessels of any size and type provided that they meet international standards.

Southgate is a shipbuilder, naval architect and marine surveyor with experience spanning 30 years in the maritime industry and is a member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects.

Association Membership Update
During its monthly meeting in March, ISS’s Executive Committee adopted a new Association Membership benefit. Beginning immediately and reflective of ISS’s membership year which is based on the date one joins or renews, current and new association members may designate five affiliates from their own membership ranks or association staff as ISS members.
Association Alliance Member Feature-The GUEST Program
Guest columnist, Joey Meen, PYA Director of Training & Certification and the Founder of GUEST- Guidelines for Unified Excellence in Service Training-discusses the three-year old program. With support from ISS and endorsements from MYBA and SYBAss, GUEST is viewed as the industry-led global training standard for interior crew.
