Association Membership Update
During its monthly meeting in March, ISS’s Executive Committee adopted a new Association Membership benefit. Beginning immediately and reflective of ISS’s membership year which is based on the date one joins or renews, current and new association members may designate five affiliates from their own membership ranks or association staff as ISS members.
Association Alliance Member Feature-The GUEST Program
Guest columnist, Joey Meen, PYA Director of Training & Certification and the Founder of GUEST- Guidelines for Unified Excellence in Service Training-discusses the three-year old program. With support from ISS and endorsements from MYBA and SYBAss, GUEST is viewed as the industry-led global training standard for interior crew.
ISS at the Palm Beach International Boat Show
Diane Byrne comments on ISS’s Board decision to hold its winter meeting at the Palm Beach International Boat Show. “As for the ISS Board of Directors meeting, committees focused on education, events, and more were expanded. Announcing the 2016 ISS Board of Directors
With an unprecedented number of votes cast, the 2016 ISS Board of Directors election was as close as any in recent memory. Congratulations to all who were nominated, to those voted in and to those who have already indicated they will stand again for the 2017 election. Thank you to all ISS members who voted. Effecting the direction of the global superyacht industry through one’s vote is a privilege of membership.
26th Anniversary of ISS's Design Awards-Yacht Registration Open
To set the stage and celebrate the 26th Anniversary of the ISS Design Awards, registration is now open for all custom new build projects completed, launched and delivered from 1 May 2015 through 30 April 2016 that are 24 meters (79') or larger in length overall. ISS’s Design Awards also includes a Refit Category: yachts must have had extensive refit work that comprehensively and esoterically changed and upgraded the vessel.

The ISS (International Superyacht Society) announces its 20162019 Board of Directors and Past Presidents Council. For the current year and based on a memberbased democratic voting system, ISS stakeholders have awarded eight Board positions for three years for the 2016-2019 term.

Fabien Cousteau Webinar-Save the January Date
ISS, Fabien Cousteau and Oceanco-the perennial sponsor of the ISS Fabien Cousteau Blue Award-are over the moon in announcing the first-ever Fabien Cousteau Webinar. During the Webinar, Fabien will discuss Mission 31 and the Fabien Cousteau Ocean Learning Center, his non-profit. For now, we asked him to give us a feel for his ocean passions in advance of January 28th.

Crisis Public Relations 404
At its recent annual members' breakfast in Fort Lauderdale, the ISS hosted a well-attended panel discussion on crisis communications. From a consultant who works with major corporations and governments to yachting-industry representatives, the panelists emphasized that the days of waiting weeks before responding to an adverse situation are long gone. Camera phones, social media, and as-it-happens news websites mean that word-and rumors-spread fast.
Superyacht Industry Associations’ Alliance Summit at METS
The first Global Summit of superyacht trade associations was held at METS and ended on a very positive note. Representatives from international associations and countries including Australia, the UK, France, the Netherlands, Italy, the USA and the Isle of Man gathered before the opening of METSTRADE 2015 to discuss collaboration on global challenges facing the Superyacht industry, yacht operators and yacht crew.
Jean-Michel Cousteau-A Life for the Water Planet
Explorer. Environmentalist. Educator. Film Producer. For more than five decades, Jean-Michel Cousteau has dedicated himself and his vast experience to communicate to people of all nations and generations his love and concern for our water planet. ISS gratefully acknowledges his participation in the 25th Annual Gala, standing in for his son Fabien Cousteau in presenting the ISS Fabien Cousteau Blue Award.
