Piers is a highly experienced yacht operational and new build project manager. As a qualified yacht surveyor, he holds a degree in business management, which aids him in understanding the commercial and seafaring issues encountered in yacht operations and new builds. Piers is a member of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology and serves on various professional committees, including the IMarEST Yachting special interest group and the ISO TC8/SC12/WG6 project committee.

After completing a five-year engineering apprenticeship, Piers embarked on his seafaring career in 1995. Over the next 11 years, he worked as a chief engineer, obtained the senior “Y1” yacht Chief Engineer’s Certificate, and served as the chief engineer on yachts up to 90M length. In 2006, Piers transitioned to shore-based roles, where he project managed the build of numerous yachts and operationally managed a substantial fleet of yachts, both above and below 500GT.

In July 2017, Piers moved from a large yacht brokerage, where he was Head of New Build projects, to join Döhle Yachts Technical Services Ltd. His increasing influence and responsibility within Döhle Yachts’ growing technical department led to his promotion to Fleet Technical Manager in March 2019.

As the manager of a growing team of experienced professionals in the technical department, Piers is committed to ensuring that the yachts supported by the Döhle technical department maximize their availability. He also focuses on controlling the cost of technical maintenance and preserving the asset value of the yachts.
