Richie Blake joined Döhle Yachts in 2015 as the Technical Director, forming Döhle Yachts Technical Services Ltd in the UK. In 2019, he joined the board of Döhle Yachts’ parent company taking on the role of Joint Managing Director with Joerg Vanselow, and assumed the sole responsibility upon Joerg’s retirement. He is currently serving as the Managing Director of the Döhle Yachts Group.
As a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institute of Marine Engineering Science and Technology, Richie started his career at sea as an Engineer. He then gained a degree in Engineering and joined Lloyds Register, where he was involved with a number of large passenger ship new construction projects in Italy, France and Japan. He was also the Lead Auditor for LR Japan for the ISM and ISPS Codes.
After leaving Lloyds Register, he spent a short time with Carnival Corporate Shipbuilding before joining the Cayman Islands Shipping Registry (CISR) in 2006. He served as the Deputy Director in the European Regional Office, responsible for all technical operations and policy outside of the Americas and Caribbean regions. During his time with the CISR, Richie was also involved with the introduction of the Passenger Yacht Code (PYC) and the development of the Large Yacht Code into LY3.
Richie lives in Warsash with his family and enjoys spending time riding his motorbikes and on the water with his children.
